Meet Our Team

Dr. Kevin Monce opened the doors of PetSound Animal Hospital in January 2005 to Cary and other surrounding communities. Prior to opening, Dr. Monce practiced 5 years of general medicine in northern Kentucky and 11 years as a referral internal medicine specialist throughout the eastern areas of North Carolina. Dr. Monce is a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. He attended North Carolina State University for his internal medicine specialty and in 1994, became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine for small animals. Dr. Monce’s professional interests include diagnostic and internal medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. When he is not practicing medicine he enjoys the company of his daughters and canine and feline companions. His hobbies include home improvement, entertainment systems and landscaping his Cary home. Dr. Monce is also an avid sports fan, following Kentucky basketball and Auburn football.

Dr. Shaina Stewart graduated from NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. Prior to veterinary school, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science from Clemson University. Dr. Stewart has been a member of PetSound Animal Hospital’s team since November 2013, working as a veterinary technician throughout vet school. When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Stewart enjoys hiking with her German Shepherds. She is an avid fan of all Clemson sports teams.

Mikayla has been a part of Petsound Animal Hospital’s team since October 2019. She even adopted Gunner (on the right) from a rescue we work with. When not at work, Mikayla enjoys watching football, spending time with friends, or taking her dogs swimming at the lake. Mikayla’s favorite parts of her job include scrubbing into surgeries and assisting doctors with appointments.

Haley has been a part of PetSound Animal Hospital team since April 2017. Her dog Tokyo (pictured left) and her cat Shadow, were both adopted through PetSound! When not at work, she enjoys being with her family and playing video games. Haley’s favorite part of her job is performing dental cleanings.

Caroline has been at PetSound Animal Hospital since 2008. She loves spending her day interacting with clients and patients. In her free time, Caroline enjoys spending time with her kids, especially taking her daughter to her competitive cheer competitions.
